Taka
began as an internal tool for our team at [[Vasker Tech]]. Our goal was to eliminate unnecessary complexity and streamline communication with clients. At Vasker Tech, our mission is to deliver fully functional MVPs within 4 weeks. To achieve this level of efficiency, we developed specialized toolsets. After receiving positive feedback, we decided to make Taka available to a broader audience (you).
Our Design Philosophy
Curious about our [[Design Philosphy]]? Understanding the "why" behind Taka’s design choices will give you insight into how to best utilize the platform. We prioritize simplicity, efficiency, and clarity to ensure teams get stuff done fast.
Setup Steps
1. Create a [[Project]]
Projects are the overarching container for your sprints, tasks, and [[Portal Page|portal]]. Here’s how to get started:
- Go to the "Projects" tab and click "Create New Project."
- Name your project and assign it to a team.
- Invite team members who will contribute to the project.
-
Set key details like start date, end date, and description.
Once your project is set up, it’s time to break it down into actionable parts: sprints.
2. Make a [[Sprint]]
Sprints are short, time-boxed intervals where specific work is completed. Each sprint has its own [[Kanban Page|Kanban board]], where you can visualize and track progress.
- Create a new sprint within your project.
- Set the start and end dates for the sprint.
- Identify the key deliverables for this sprint and add them as sprint objectives (covered next).
Sprints help your team focus on short-term goals while working toward the larger project goal.
3. Plan Out [[Sprint Objectives]]
Sprint Objectives are the specific outcomes you want to achieve during the sprint. They provide clear, measurable goals for your team to work toward.
- Open the Sprint Progress modal from the Kanban board.
- Add your sprint objectives, such as "Complete Onboarding Flow" or "Fix Critical Bugs."
- Objectives can be linked to specific tasks to make them easy to track and mark as complete.
These objectives ensure the team stays aligned and can see how their tasks contribute to the bigger picture.
4. Create [[Tasks]]
Tasks are the building blocks of your sprint. Each task can be assigned to a team member, given a due date, and linked to a sprint objective.
- Go to the Kanban board for your sprint.
- Click "Add Task" to create a new task.
- Add a title, description, and assign it to a team member.
- You can also add tags, due dates, and other custom fields to track progress.
Tasks are where the day-to-day action happens. As tasks move from "To Do" to "In Progress" to "Done," the sprint’s progress bar will automatically update.
For your tasks we recommend using the [[Task List]].
5. [[Permissions]]
Taka’s permissions system ensures that the right people have the right access. This structure keeps your project organized and secure. There are four main roles in Taka, each with its own set of responsibilities:
- Team Creator : Creates teams, manages settings, and invites members.
- Project Creator : Manages projects and can delete them.
- Admin : Manages kanban boards, sprints, and users within a project.
- Contributor : Handles tasks, reassignments, and resource edits.
Want to understand the full scope of what each role can do? Check out our detailed [[Permissions]] page.
